cHARACTER cREATION

Creating a Character

When creating your character, you will select an Awakening, Faction, Culture, and Build (from the rulebook).

Respending a Character

You may change anything about your character for your first three games (you may not change mid-game). This is to allow new players to get a feel for larping and Legends before dedicating to a character.

Additionally, the Eternal Lands strange nature also lends itself as a great in-world excuse for not knowing every tidbit of lore. Selective amnesia can effect a character that has stepped foot into the Eternal Lands. Although your character may just not know something, you can also choose to use this selective amnesia as a tool for your character going "oh, that's right! I forgot that thing that I should know, these acursed Eternal Lands!"

Exceptional Individual

Your character is not just talented, but represents the best of the best that Roera has to offer. This is why you were chosen for the mission to the Eternal Lands. In comparison to the average person in Roera, your character is exceptional in their field. Although most Awakened find themselves able to access limited new abilities, your character has mastered some. Here are some examples of how your character's abilities compare to the norm:

  • Magic: In Roera, achieving three ranks in a school of magic makes a character an expert in that field. Learning a new spell can take a decade, and an "average" mage in Roera has the mental fortitude to cast a spell once per day.

  • Combat: While many in Roera can wield a weapon, your character's martial skills far surpass the common soldier or mercenary. An average warrior might be proficient with one weapon or skill after a lifetime, while your character can perfect many.

  • Crafting: An ordinary artisan might create a handful of basic items in a day. Your character, with skills like Alchemist or Scrivener, can craft powerful potions and scrolls that most people in Roera would never even see in their lifetime.

  • Physical Prowess: Soft skills of your character represent extraordinary physical capabilities and mental fortitude. Where an average person might struggle to lift a heavy object, your character can potentially move boulders or hold closed doors against multiple opponents. Where the average person may break immediately under torture, you can resist.
